Here is a retrospective of our shared journey, inviting those who could not join us this time to catch a glimpse of the field.

Welcome & Framing: Exploring Wu Wei

The session opened by welcoming the global diversity of the group, including new faces joining our circle. Inspired by a intermediate dialog between Nanne and Dirk the central theme explored was the Taoist concept of “Wu Wei” (action through non-action). The guiding question for the session was how to distinguish this present, connected non-doing from mere laziness: “Is it laziness or is it true acting from the source?”.

Check-in: Voices from the Global Field

During our check-in, the rich diversity of our internal states and the world around us became visible. Participants shared vulnerable, honest, and profound insights into their current experiences:

• One participant spoke about holding opposites given the global and political climate: “I go through periods of truly being very afraid living in this country... And then another part of my reality is being absolutely at peace and knowing that everything’s okay on some level.”.

• Another reflected on releasing expectations: “Why do we have the expectation it’s going to be this way or that way? [...] It’s about letting go of that and facing it as it is.”.

• Someone who had been looking forward to a period of rest honestly noted: “What came up for me is really a feeling of guilt because I’ve been doing so much and looking forward to this down time.”.

• A voice from Europe brought us back to beautiful simplicity: “What do we really want and need? Let go of the garbage. And it’s the same old story. Love. That’s it. Self love, love the others... I think life is very simple.”.

• Another participant gave space to the struggle for presence: “It feels so nebulous and so cloudy and so big inside of myself... the version of non-doing for me has been lying down a lot.”.

• Reflecting on inner compulsion, one shared: “The whole story of what we should and have to and shouldn’t this is really just old conditioning.”.

• Finally, a reminder of the strength in our local and social fields: “I believe we are strong enough when we are sharing in our neighborhood in our friendship good time.”.

The Practice: The 20-Minute Dance

To experience “Wu Wei” bodily rather than just discussing it conceptually, the group was invited to a “20-Minute Dance” of the Social Presencing Theater. The simple yet profound instruction was: “Be loyal to your body for 20 minutes”. We began lying on the ground, connecting with the great earth body, with the sole intention to naturally rise to a standing position (or a final shape) over the course of the 20 minutes. We practiced not forcing anything, but rather observing how movement and stillness naturally iterate and alternate.

Haiku Feedback: Poetry from Movement

Following the practice, we let our experiences flow onto paper in the form of short poems. Sharing these lines anonymously created a space of dense poetry:

• Here are the short poems and reflections exactly as they were shared by the participants after the 20-minute dance practice:

  • “Being earth, sadness, suffering, stillness, and grief. Slowly I move and gaze into the garden. Lenty. abundance sensing into the regenerative places which are here already on earth. More to come more humans will join being just you.”

  • “Deliciousness of movement, full body contact, comfort and relating, throwing out the garbage. Relax.”

  • “Staying close to earth, leaving all effort with her. With her it becomes fertile ground while I rise softly towards the sky.”

  • “Flat on yoga mat. Eye contact with beautiful cat. Unexpected little tear. Up to slice an apple. Crunch. Crunch. Munch. Munch. I am here.”

  • “Pleasure releasing. Movement welcoming. Movement welcoming. Next movement alive with sensation. My body is always carried by the earth. Being part of the earth. Being part”

  • “I’m much connected to the roots. Feeling my third eye dreaming slow movement. But something happens in my arm. The arms stretched and I notice some really someone push me from the road. But then suddenly sitting up I felt really waking up and stretch my body completely and then I just watch out feel completely connected to the mother earths.”

  • “Surrender surrender surrender. I was just keep coming back into that deep relaxation. It’s just about surrendering. That was my experience.”

Reflecting on Petra’s Drawing

While we danced and spoke, Petra captured the energy of the field in a visual scribing. As we viewed the artwork together, participants discovered deep resonances: Some saw “ying and yang” and “beauty and aliveness and plenty and peace”. Others noticed a “black sculpture in the middle between guild and war,” which paradoxically mixed with a feeling of “distraction and freedom”. One participant beautifully summarized the essence of the image: “I’m drawn to the circle of dancers and it’s kind of like they’re dancing around a transparent heart, celebrating it.”.

Closing Reading: The Tao Te Ching

A brief dialogue about non-doing provided the perfect conclusion. We were reminded: “Not doing as a concept... I think this is mistaking what it is. It’s not a concept. It’s rather a question or a koan”. The session closed with a spontaneous reading from an English edition of the Tao Te Ching, Chapter 25, which exactly captured the core of our session:

“There was something formless and perfect before the universe was born. It is serene, empty, solitary, unchanging, infinite. in it eternally present. It is the mother of the universe. For lack of better name, I call it the Tao. It flows through all things inside and outside and returns to the origin of all things. The Tao is great. The Universe is great. Earth is great. Man is great. There are the four great powers. Man follows the earth. Earth follows the universe. The universe follows the Tao. The Tao follows only itself.”.

Our February Open Movalogue gathering spanned the globe with a vibrant energy, connecting the quiet winter of Europe and North America with the festive “Fire Horse” energy of Chinese New Year in Asia. From the sounds of Carnival in the background to the stillness of the New Moon, we explored what it means to find focus amidst the “stuckness” of daily life and the distractions of the world.

Key Insights: Shedding Skins & Simplicity During our check-in, a strong theme of transition emerged. Participants spoke of “shedding old skins” and experiencing “rebirth,” while others navigated the space of “letting go” as children leave the nest. We touched on the tension between the “stuckness” of administrative tasks and the “tapestry” of regeneration.

Yet, amidst these complexities, we found a profound anchor in simplicity. A Participant shared a beautiful sentiment about dropping the “dual savior” and simply arriving in the body with a feeling of: “Hey... just hey.” This resonance of “less is more” set the stage for our practice.

The Practice: Postures of Presence and Focus One of the participants then guided the group through a sequence of bodily postures, exploring how changing the body’s position serves as a portal to connect with a deeper truth and shifts our awareness and focus. He led the group through the following precise steps:

1. Standing and Rooting The practice began by standing up, feeling the feet anchored and rooted to the ground, while simultaneously sensing the crown of the head and the energy above it, settling into an upright position.

2. The “I Am” Posture Participants were invited to bring their hands slightly in front of them, facing forward and upward. Max described this posture as carrying the simple, foundational quality of “I am... feeling today showing up for you in this position”.

3. “The Great Yes” / The Welcoming Posture Gently, the arms were moved upward into a wide, open embrace—likened to welcoming friends you haven’t seen in a long time. Max noted this posture expresses that we are alive and signifies a “great yes to life in all of it” and a radical welcoming of all creation and its beauty.

4. The Bridge (The Human Being on Earth) Moving the arms even further up into a half-circle towards the sky, participants opened their legs a little wider and bent their knees slightly. Feeling the openness towards the sky and the rooted connection down to the earth, this posture embodied the human being: upright, connected to both realms, with the love of the heart acting as the “bridge between the two”.

5. Surrender and Devotion From the open bridge, participants sensed energy coming from the sky and brought it down to earth, and brought earth’s energy up to the sky, slowly moving their hands down in front of their breath. Max described this as a gesture of surrender and devotion, representing a willingness to say “yes to life also when it’s not going my ways”.

6. Kneeling and Giving Weight to Mother Earth The group was then invited to go down into a kneeling position, sitting on their heels. With hands reaching forward, they were asked to let their foreheads touch the ground. In this pose of deep surrender, Max invited everyone to “give all weight to mother earth,” trusting her carrying capacity and giving over all burdens and things no longer needed.

7. Upright Sitting and Gentle Reflection Finally, participants gently brought themselves into an upright position, still sitting on their heels with their hands resting on their legs. From this centered inner space and silence of the heart, Max invited the group to take a soft look at the things they call “distractions” or challenges in life, asking: “what would be the deepest message of those distractions lately?”.

Reflections & Visuals The experience sparked deep reflections on the effort required to “hold up” our intentions versus the ease of letting energy flow. We laughed about the physical challenges of the practice (including the struggle of “holiday bellies” in the kneeling pose!) and discovered that focus often looks less like rigidity and more like surrender.

Participant Blair shared a spontaneous drawing of a “Focus Mouse”—a creature of senses, whiskers, and awareness - reminding us that focus is an active, sniffing, sensing engagement with the world.

Further Voices from Participants Following the session, participants shared their heartfelt reflections and feedback on the experience:

• Chie: Expressed great gratitude for the “beautiful space” and asked Max to share his insightful stories. She noted how the meditative practice, transforming from “(who) I Am” into “welcome, openness... oneness... humbleness” with Mother Earth and the cosmos, was deeply helpful. She also beautifully highlighted experiencing the group “as a social field.”

• Ilona: Reflected on the “focus of inner intention, by embodiment of connection between the earth and the sky.” She found the “inner tension and the unusual holding muscles” profound, noting how remarkable it was to see “how the individual body react[s].”

• Nanne: Shared her joy for the gathering, stating she liked it very much and is happy that “others show themselves and their exercises”

• Blair: Captured the core of our community in a few simple, powerful words: “I feel welcomed and I feel safe.”

This gathering was a deep, multi-layered exploration of collective wisdom, personal experience, and a grounding embodiment practice, primarily utilizing the powerful metaphor of the tree. For those of you who could not attend, we hope these takeaways inspire your own journey toward deeper integration.

The Power of the Integrated Wound

For us, the most transformative moment of the call was realizing how shared vulnerability, through the genuine disclosure of personal struggles, instantly creates a profound and empathetic healing space for all involved. This dynamic powerfully mirrors the core principle of the “Wounded Healer” archetype, a concept formalized by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung in the 1950s. This archetype posits that deep empathy and therapeutic insight are cultivated directly from having integrated one’s own suffering. When we dare to show our true self, our wounds become a source of strength that enhances understanding and compassion, enabling us to foster growth in others who are suffering from similar challenges.

Key Insights from Our Discussion

The conversation moved fluidly across neuroscience, spirituality, and ancient wisdom:

• Holistic View vs. Extraction: We contrasted the “left hemisphere” approach to nature (seeing the tree merely as a resource for extraction) with the “right hemisphere” view (seeing the tree as an integrated part of a holistic existence).

• Intuition and the Immeasurable: The group acknowledged the difficulty of integrating scientific understanding with profound inner experience. The consensus was that mystical or miraculous experiences cannot truly be recorded or measured, and the key insight is to let “all attempts to measure” come to rest, finding certainty in the constant presence of energy.

• Heart-Based Knowing: Our participant David Burman shared insights contrasting the neurobiology of colonialism (from Vanessa Andriotti’s work, which highlights a disconnect from nature) with neurocardiology. The latter validates the ancient wisdom that the heart generates its own energy and nervous system, and is the source of intuition—or “heart-based thinking.” We emphasized the courage required to embrace “not knowing” as necessary for regeneration.

• Trusting the Body: Several participants shared deeply resonant stories about navigating severe physical ailments. A strong theme emerged around the brave decision to trust the body over relying solely on external medical diagnoses or pain medication, while recognizing the inherent complexity and uncertainty of this choice.

Embodiment Practice: Becoming the Tree

The discussion spontaneously flowed into a guided practice led by Max Stehle, inviting us to stand and embody a tree, connecting our roots to the Earth and our crown to the cosmos.

• Profound Takeaways: Participants experienced trees as continuously moving, flowing, and adjusting (not still or solitary), and felt a powerful sense of balance and steadiness.

• The Core Message of Trust: The single strongest message received from the trees was Trust: “I am perfect, I’m safe, and I’m fine.”

Our August 2025 Open Movalogue Call call began with a traditional introduction round where participants shared their intentions and connections, which opened a wide space of perspectives, insights and feelings.

​​After guiding us into some grounding and stillness Petra introduced the word “Control“ for collective exploration. Jennifer picked it up and led into a 15-minute dance, starting from a lying position and slowly transitioning to a standing sculpture. Participants were invited to observe what emerged within their bodies and the space.

​​

Here are the discoveries that emerged from our collective body about the word “Control”:

• ​​A feeling of defiance against instructions was experienced as the opposite of control, leading to acceptance and a release from expectations.

• ​​The insight emerged that embracing and allowing everything to simply be, even amidst chaos, can paradoxically lead to inner calm and the release of unnecessary control.

• ​​Life was understood as a process requiring constant “letting go,” acknowledging the inherent limits of control.

• ​​A total loss of control, such as temporarily losing the ability to speak, could surprisingly lead to profound peace and the realization that there is “nothing left to accomplish,” as “everything has already been done”.

• ​​Control was identified as an “illusion,” superseded by a state of being “held in the space of freedom and order”.

• ​​Letting go and allowing the body to guide oneself led to a deep release, fostering feelings of support, love, and rejuvenation.

• ​​The effort to be “different from who I am” was perceived as a form of control; letting go of this struggle led to self-acceptance, joy, and profound freedom.

The call’s essence was a powerful, shared journey into deep connection, love, and the profound liberation found in letting go of control and embracing the present moment.

In our October 2024 blog post “Parenting a Social Body“ we explored the concept of community as a social body, needing nourishment and care, just like a child. This nourishment comes in many forms, including love, attention, and authentic connection.

Authentic relationships foster a safe space where we can be ourselves without fearing judgment. They offer a sense of belonging and connection, which can be profoundly healing. As Verena König states in her book “Trauma and Relationships,” “People begin to heal the moment they feel seen.“

These relationships allow us to feel secure and supported, encouraging us to share our experiences, process past traumas, and integrate them into our life story. They also help us unlearn limiting behavior patterns, build trust, and establish healthier connections.

The practice of Social Presencing Theater offers valuable tools to foster these relationships and nourish the social body. Through mindful movement and encounter, we learn to perceive and understand ourselves and others better. We practice empathy and compassion and develop our ability to be present in the moment.

Embracing change and vulnerability, as Petra Borgmann Durrie articulated in her recent blog post is essential for growth. Authentic relationships provide the container where we can safely explore our vulnerability and navigate change.

Dear Movalogue friends,

Our Movalogue meeting on January 21, 2025 inspired us to embark on a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance–a journey where we learn to love ourselves unconditionally. Cultivating self-love, as well as love for others and life on earth, allows us to build resilience and face adversity. It provides the strength to confront challenges and to embrace our true selves without fear or shame. Highlighting the collective journey towards understanding our humanity and embracing our authentic selves.

Who feels we are in a big shift?

A Movalogue gathering is not pre-planned or rigidly structured. It’s a muscle we’ve honed over the years as Movalogue firekeepers: the ability to listen deeply and sense into the present moment. What needs to be heard? What needs to be seen?

As the participants arrived, my attention was immediately drawn to a book in the left corner of one participant, who had joined us from Turkey. I asked her about it, and with a spark of joy, she shared that it was a heartfelt project— a story about a girl learning to listen to her true self. It was a picture book that she had co-created with AI, which had just been published.

This moment of sharing opened the space for others to reflect on their own transformations and what truly mattered to them 2025. Everyone spoke about the things they had recently created and brought into the world. The common thread was the courage to finally speak up in their authentic voice.

We began with three questions:

1. Who feels we are in a big shift?

2. What does it look like?

3. How do you experience it in your own body?

During the guided meditation that followed—spoken intuitively by me—I envisioned a heart resting at the bottom of a container. The heart then moved out and around the container, guiding the energy of the upcoming exchange.

After the meditation, each participant shared a word. These words wrote on the right side of the scribing (”scribing”: a live drawing that captures the essence of the moment).

Connected to earth. Trust, faith, courage, core, heart. Grounded with life, renewed, back in the space of safety, peace, comfort, internality.

These words are written in blue on a golden yellow background, symbolizing our inner wisdom, beauty, and joy—qualities that emerge when we are fully present in the moment.

Letting Go of the Past

As we shared our personal shifts “coming out of the silence.” was a one of them. Years spent listening and giving were now giving way to the time for speaking up and being heard.

I shared my pain—the pain of having invested so much time, energy, and love into something that no longer serves me. The deep sorrow of realizing that some things can’t be changed, and that acceptance is the only way forward. “Letting things be as they are” became my mantra. To be held in silence by the group—just as I am, in my imperfection—felt like a shower of love.

This vulnerability opened further space for reflection. A Rumi poem was shared, and we came to understand that vulnerability, rather than being a weakness, is a form of strength. It’s an integral part of being human. But vulnerability is not where we stay. Self-compassion is key to breaking free from the chains of our past and embracing a future we can actively create—one that opens the door to new experiences.

In the scribing, all these elements were captured:Constant change, complexity, chaos, uncertainty—this is life.It can feel overwhelming at times, but it is also beautiful.

Passion, Beauty, Creativity

To evolve, to remember our inherent power, and to show up in our uniqueness and creativity is vital. When we stand in our true selves, we attract those who resonate with us.

On the left side of the scribing is a central question: What makes us human? The image of many interconnected hearts, outlined with dots and in constant motion, I drew alongside energy lines and a central eye. Above the eye, the words “I AM”.

A week after our gathering, our starting question Who feels we are in a big shift?

weighs more heavily on me. The speed with which misguided leadership can turn a democracy into an authoritarian regime has become painfully clear.

Fear is not be the best advisor. Our true source of strength lies in our willingness to embrace love and action. In our meetings we strengthen our connection to ourselves and inspire each other to follow our true path.

As Prof. Dr. Edith Eger, a Holocaust survivor, once said:“Your relationship with yourself sets the tone for every other relationship you have.”

What makes the Open Movalogue Calls so special:

Dear Movalogue friends,

In the December Open Movalogue call, we gathered to celebrate, reflect, and tune into the pulse of our hearts from moment to moment. The flickering candles and the scent of cinnamon apple signaled a shift in seasons and a moment of pausing the mind.

Landed in the curiosity of listening and the willingness to be part of this global space we expressed a warm welcome home, marked by full presence, surpassed personal anxiety and resistance, as mentioned during the check-in. We are collectively facing big shifts, from politics, environment and technology, which might create intense and overwhelming emotions.

Reflecting in stillness and presence, we honored the completion of another year. Through poetry, our hearts convey the beauty of the ever-changing essence of being.

Starting in stillness, we then stepped into Duets in breakout rooms, reflecting on “What do I want to celebrate with my partner in this duet?”. Through movements, we celebrated and honored the past year. The poetry that emerged from this communal experience reflected the diverse experiences and feelings.

During the closing, the reading of poetry in 7 languages touched the hearts and resonated the oneness of a social body and the full potentials of humanity is awakening.

Dear Movalogue friends,

In this post, we explore the profound impact of shared feelings within a community, particularly as experienced during a recent Movalogue call. Guided by Petra, participants engaged in a journey of self-exploration that allowed for deep listening and connection. This experience highlighted the transformative power of vulnerability and the beauty of collective expression, fostering a sense of belonging and acceptance.

Feelings most time calls upon my attention nowadays. In particularly so when the resonance of feelings is shared and echoed in the social body. In a previous Movalogue call, we were guided by Petra to explore our individual space from the back of the spine, then to the front of the chest.

As each of us wrote our haiku from this embodied exercise, we listened with the whole body. The whole body listening resonated with lines, forms, and movements as the rhythms of the sound orchestrated heartful appreciations of the beauty. My anxiety and fear dropped into the gentle wave of sound, and a sense of a bigger Self emerged as I saw the collective dance when I read the haiku. Listening and being listened to create the allowance and acceptance of who I am and what I am. Simplify, just I am.

When pains were shared in open gentleness, feelings of being understood and held blanketed the body with warmth and care. When fears are revealed in open honesty, feelings of belonging and restfulness settled the disturbing mind. Curiosity, care, and love—the qualities pouring from the heart reshape the feelings of our bodies and us. Being at easiness and being in just simply one self.

In the holidays, let’s rest in our nest. Bring some tea and cookies to share.

Dear Movalogue friends,

In our last meeting we explored the concept of the social body and drew parallels to the birth and development of a human body. We explored how mindfulness of the body can help us tap into the social body and perceive its unique qualities. In this post we want to deepen our exploration by relating the concept of the social body to Dan Siegel’s principles of Interpersonal Neurobiology.

Siegel argues that human well-being is based on a triangle Relationships, mind and brain. He emphasizes that mindful attention, consciously experiencing the present moment without attachment to judgment, promotes harmony between these three elements. Mindfulness practice strengthens the neural connections in the brain’s resonant circuits, which play a critical role in developing empathy, compassion, and the ability to relate to others.

Dan often uses simple and relatable metaphors to explain the connection between relationships and the brain in an accessible way. One of his most notable illustrations is the idea of “brain as a garden“:

Imagine that your brain is like a garden, and your relationships are the water and sunshine that help it grow. Just like flowers and plants need water and light to stay healthy, your brain needs loving and positive connections with other people to grow strong and work well. When you feel safe, loved, and connected to others, it’s like giving your brain the best possible care.

Siegel also explains that relationships shape our brain’s development through what he calls “attunement“ - when someone really listens to you and understands how you feel. This creates a sense of safety and helps your brain develop pathways that make you feel good and help you understand your own emotions and those of others. Your brain is being nurtured like a small plant, where attention, empathy, and understanding make it thrive. This way, it becomes clear that our interactions with people directly influence how our brain grows and functions, shaping who we are.

Collective and individual healing through integration

A social body that embodies these qualities can be a powerful vessel for collective and individual healing. By creating a safe and supportive space, members can confront their own stuckness while benefiting from the group’s wisdom and compassion. Just as Siegel emphasizes integration as the key to personal well-being, integration within the social body is crucial for collective healing.

By engaging with our individual bodies and the social body with mindfulness, we create a field of connection, understanding and transformation. This is one of the core experiences we make when listening to each other with our bodies while practicing “the village“ as a non-judgmental sensing space.

Dear Movalogue friends,

For those who couldn’t join us, here’s a glimpse into our recent Movalogue gathering focused on exploring the social field through body awareness and creative expression. Participants from around the world connected virtually to experience the connections between themselves, the Earth Body, and the collective Social Body.

The Session’s Flow

• Welcoming and Grounding: We began by warmly acknowledging our global audience, spanning from Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines in the late evening, through the Middle East and Europe at midday, and Latin America in the early hours, before reaching the West coast of the US and Canada at sunrise. We briefly checked in with the question, “What has brought us together today?“ Jennifer then guided us all into a mindful grounding, inviting us to feel all parts of our body and its connection to other parts and the outside.

• Adapted “Village” Exercise: From being grounded and tuned into our individual bodies, Dirk invited us to get into a standing position, imagining ourselves as trees with roots intertwining deep within the Earth and connecting us to one another. We further explored these connections through along a reduced movement vocabulary of only “turning” while sensing into the different qualities of direction. We ended in facing towards the screen in the creation of a collective body sculpture expressing our current connection to the social field

  and letting phrases from the I-voice emerge.

• Visual reflection and Breakout Room Sharing: From there Petra invited us into further stay in our felt connection and start a visual reflection about what we notice. We then split into breakout duets to share our drawings, notes, and reflections. This provided a safe space for intimate exchange and deeper processing of the experience.

• Plenary Sharing and Closing: Finally, we reconvened to share highlights from our breakout room discussions with the larger group. The session ended with an invitation to continue the conversation and share our artwork in the signal group “movalogue@home“.

Key Themes and Insights

Dear Movalogue friends,

Social Presencing Theater (SPT) is centered around the idea that there exist three types of body: the individual human body, the collective social body, and the earth body. Many of us once sensed into those bodies either in-person or online. The SPT practices of “Village” and “Dance of Five/ Little Village” serve as effective tools for delving into the social body, enabling participants to experience its essence and allowing space to notice its unique characteristics. This post is dancing with the parallels to the birth and development of a human body. It examines the transformative shift that occurs when a group transitions from a set of individual perspectives to a unified collective entity.

In the realm of SPT, the practice of “Village” provides a powerful illustration of this phenomenon. After some time of collective nonverbal movement, participants reflect on their experience following the simple questions “What did you notice?” and “What surprised you?” When facilitating a “Little Village” I often ask the groups: “If your village had a name, how would it be called?” This seemingly simple act of naming often sparks a profound shift. The group begins to perceive itself as a distinct organism, moving from a state of analysis to one of co-creation. The addition of a name seems to imbue this emergent social body with a unique identity.

This process mirrors the development of a human body, which begins its journey in the womb, culminating in birth and the subsequent bestowal of a name. Both experiences highlight the transformative power of naming and its role in establishing identity.

Nurturing the Newborn Social Being

Something similar happens during any sustainable creation of groups and organizations. After the group crystallized its identity by naming it (sometimes a name is already given), a collaborative shaping of this new social being begins. This process is distinct from the sum of individual actions and, much like raising a child, requires attention and awareness.

• The act of naming signifies not just a beginning, but also a starting point for the ongoing development of the social body.

• The group, now perceiving itself as a unified being, begins to co-create its identity.

• This co-creation extends beyond individual contributions, giving rise to something new that wasn’t present in the sum of its parts.

Like a newborn child, this social body needs special care in its early stages:

• Mindfulness: Group members need to become aware of their role within the social body and learn to sense the needs and dynamics of the collective.

• Openness: A space for collective learning and growth must be created, allowing for the emergence of new behaviors and modes of interaction.

• Commitment: The development of a social body takes time. It is important to accompany the process without forcing it.

A bunch of interesting question raise from this perspective:

• Can a social body being grow up and thrive without ‘parental’ care?

• Which further growth stages (e.g. compared to adolescence) occur?

• What guiding principles become visible?

• What role does Presencing play?

Our monthly Open Movalogue calls are meant to be a safe container to explore such questions with an open mind, heart and will.

Dear Movalogue friends,

It has been over three months since the last blog post was published, and it may seem like Movalogue has disappeared. However, behind the scenes, it is undergoing a transformation by composting the old and preparing a nurturing ground for a next cycle of creation.

You might now ask: What is exactly happening? What can be noticed?

During our monthly Open Movalogue calls a little tribe of people went on exploring

and expressing beauty, richness and diversity by making transcontinental connection a felt experience. It became quite a solid group of humans from Asia through Europe and Latam to Canada and West Coast US.

While sensing into what wants to emerge this group noticed two important basic qualities:

• Movalogue aims to weave embodiment, poetry, and art into our daily lives, becoming a seamless part of daily routines and local communities.

• Movalogue comes with ease and grows organically without tension and burden of being attached to conceptual goals.

The process and the experience in the present moment became more valuable than the outcome and future goals. Prioritizing the depth of our relationships shapes the results of our collaborative efforts. Various creative outcome is created by the field of connected individuals being open to surprise.

Regarding the annual Movalogue event, which has traditionally taken place at the end of August for the past six years, we sense that it may need more time to fully mature. Our mind, heart and hands are circling around the idea to invite to a Movalogue, which takes place in the homes of our community of participants, a Movalogue@home.

We saw ...

• close and far neighborhoods

• elderly people in wild gardens

• stray cats connecting

• transcendent Asian communities across borders

• street festivals and garage sales

• neighbors caring about packages and stepping into surprisingly deep talks

• friends of kids refreshing the house

• working friends sitting on a rooftop watching the sun going down

• kabbalah and martial art communities

• housing cooperation and parenting groups

• Germans feeling in Latam

• connection and fragmentation

• coming into and leaving communities

• condos with walls around it

• university and innovation communities

• mobile home parks with elderly people and socio economic diversity

• spiritual sanghas

• one person being the social glue and

• this person leaving and all connection disappearing

• rivers and nature being part of the community

• virulent big cities with daily exploding seeds, new faces, small talk and depth by decision

We envisioned...

• friends and family meeting in gardens and homes...

• enjoying food variety...

• being soft and vulnerable...

• cozy talking groups...

• in the kitchen, living room, on a bench, around the fire...

• a mic, a camera, a screen...

• globally connecting...

Over the span of seven transformative years, Movalogue has evolved, much like a living entity, shedding old skins and embracing new colors with each passing season.

In this dynamic tapestry of existence, Movalogue has gracefully woven together threads of embodiment and visual arts, crafting a unique DNA that resonates with the essence of heartfelt connection. From its humble beginnings in 2018 at Alanus Campus in Alfter, where European souls converged to deepen the Practice of Social Presencing Theater (SPT), to the vibrant interplay with the visionary artist Sasa Neheus, Movalogue has been a sanctuary for collective creativity and exploration.

It was there, amidst the fertile ground of shared intention, that the seeds of collaboration were sown, blossoming into joyous days of dancing starting with a collective sketching and the birth of Sasa’s inspired artwork. As our gathering drew to a close, we bore witness to the fruits of our labor, each participant taking home a piece of Sasa’s creation - a tangible reminder of the magic that unfolds when hearts unite in purposeful communion.

Emerging from a cosmic kitchen, grounded with savory flavors, scents and sounds streaming out all around, Movalogue 2023’s sonorous message is still reverberating across the globe.

The inspiring designs and sessions held over the 3 days sustain many seeds of deeper promises from the earth and from the sky and from our bodies and hearts and minds.

Thank you for showing up, celebrating and dancing with us…sharing your personal lights and grounded gifts, joining from a new collective light, creating new sounds and songs together. Honoring the ancients….

With great intention and deep purpose, the Latam team shared their embodied wisdom with innovative social arts and movement practices from their ancestors. Their lands have spoken and we have listened. Sacred play and powerful images and sounds have emerged…

Scribing Day 1, Margarita Reyes

Our theme, the Art and Heart of Daily Life, brought many creative applications of culinary artistry from across the globe. Participants gathered on most continents offering joyful movements, art and music, sharing ordinary pleasures from the heart.

Movalogue gratefully honors the Latam team that held and facilitated the online global sessions: the team includes Mary Ro Montejo and Margarita Reyes from Colombia, Ilse Gómez from Venezuela and Dominican Republic, Claudia Siles and Frida Luz Candia from Bolivia, Viviana Galdames from Chile, Nanne Lotzkat from Germany and Argentina, Sonia Laura Mora and Patricia Dellacha from Argentina, Daniela Ferraz and Aline Civinelli from Brazil. Special thanks to translators Andrea Fernandez (Argentina) and Gabriela Vergara (Brazil). Movalogue Firekeepers Andrea Nery and Geisa Paganini De Mio (Brazil), Patricia Scott (Argentina), Jennifer Cheng (Taiwan) and Lakshmi Naranyanan (India) helped support the space.

Global Online Space

In spite of the short notice, when invited to host the online Movalogue core program, the Latam team cultivated and stewarded divergent and emergent views and ideas. Their deep caring came from their rooted and expansive hearts and the cooking analogy emerged for the 2023 Movalogue motto. A savory sampling of creativity, soul and commitment allowed a new landing and locating, seeded from the south.

It seems we are now sending and receiving with more reciprocity; coming from all directions, participants have arrived and departed with a new and different sense of embodied awareness. Essential seeds were cultivated from the diverse and ancient South American harmonies, and Nature showered us with her grounded and illuminated gifts, re-engaging us all, shaping the emergent landscapes and social fields with rhythm, grace and ease. Hoorah!

Our October Open Movalogue call is coming closer. When sensing into the preparation we noticed a longing to create something fresh, something surprising.

This longing of creation out of the present moment became a essential way of holding the Movalogue space. It is a tender dance between honoring a guiding structure to allow people to settle in safety and keep openness towards surprising emergence.

During our harvesting dance in our September Open Movalogue call we tapped into some basic qualities of the Movalogue, which can be summarized as:

Openness – Unplanned – Unexpected fruits.

We shared gestures that expressed what we harvest from Movalogue and received reflections of these gestures.

• Connection: welcoming – balancing – spreading wings/feathers/testing wings- allowing and observing – lightness – expanding and shining

• Tree trying to connect to the ocean: exploring new possibilities – the Tree of Life is whispering – dancing to the rhythm of life unfolding – tender dancing exploration – bodies know how to self regulate – growth doesn´t have straight lines

• Breathing is enough: stillness expands the heart – being – presence of the heart – sitting on abundance – gratitude for life

• Bringing all to the now: realizing that my heart could fly – purging and… - putting attention to what sits in the back, take time to bring it to the front and finally making it a gift – moment of instability in my feet that then became very grounded – support form the ancestors, gathering the strength

• Gifted: being thankful – reaching out to the above – being open to grace – sparkling – grateful for abundance – refreshing, like a shower – receiving blessings

• Bringing things to the heart: we´re all one in the heart – magic, being me – softness – being at home in my heart – soft embrace – tenderness

• Facing away: different perspectives – sadness - slowly opening to new perspectives – resistance is futile – gentle stretch that allows for flexibility (being stretched like a rubber band) – dropping, letting go of some of the weight, relaxation

• From above things look better: openness and trust – it’s so easy to move – finding joy in constant movement – my heart is beating fast

Generative conversation: Presence – poetic quality in daily life – authenticity – genuinely expressing what is ripe in us – invitation top play and explore – fresh harvest: it´s sweeter when it’s fresh – community presencing potluck – SPT in public spaces: natural SPT of children and adults in shopping center – sign in electric stairs: “Prepare to ascend” – Dragon dreaming for Movalogue?

Movalogue´s 2023 annual celebration happened during the last weekend of August, where we explored the motto “Revealing the Art and Heart of Daily Life”. Our hybrid 3-day gathering was very rich in experiences, sharings and learnings!

In our next Open Call (on Sept. 19th), we would love to hear from all of those who contributed to this event.

Following the cooking analogy used in the online core program, we invite you to Movalogue’s global kitchen to begin our collective harvest:

“In the kitchen

I see the world,

I see the colors of life,

The smells of memories,

the flavors of hope.

A world of laughter,

A world of family and friends.

How did Movalogue 2023 move us? What favourite meals did we cook together? What unique flavours emerged and surprised us? What daily life ingredients would we like to continue cultivating? What is Movalogue in service of?

Harvesting together is an opportunity to:

• Share and savour the joy and ‘left-overs’ from our annual celebration, recycling back through composting, nothing goes to waste.

• Appreciate and celebrate the many hands and hearts that revealed themselves.

• See and sense ourselves as a global family.
